DESCRIPTION:Please join the Wisconsin 9/11 Memorial & Education Center for our annual September 11th remembrance event. This year\, the event will take place on Monday\, September 11th\, 2023 at 11:30 a.m. \nThe focus of this year’s event will be volunteerism and the important role of emergency medical services. \nGuest speakers include:  \nKeynote Speaker: Martin Nystrom – Nystrom served as the President of the Maplewood NJ Volunteer First Aid Squad. He will share his experiences as a Ground Zero Search & Rescue Coordinator on September 11th\, 2001 and the days following. \nCatherine Pampel – Pampel is a veteran U.S. Navy Gunner’s Mate. She is currently a volunteer Emergency Medical Technician with the Village of Kewaskum\, and a full-time EMT with Lifestar. \n**NOTE TO RESIDENTS AND BUSINESSES** — Fond du Lac Ave. will be closed between Main St. and 2nd St. during the event. \nIf we experience inclement weather\, the event will be held inside the Kewaskum Municipal Annex Building directly to the east of the Memorial.

DESCRIPTION:UPDATE: Due to the threat of rain\, this event will likely be held inside the Kewaskum Annex Building\, located directly behind the Memorial.\n\nPlease join the Wisconsin 9/11 Memorial & Education Center for our annual September 11th Memorial event.\nThis year’s event will be held on Sunday\, September 11th beginning at 1 p.m.\n\nGuests include:\nLisa Burgess — Burgess is a survivor of the attacks on the Pentagon and former reporter for the Stars and Stripes publication. She will speak about her firsthand experiences the day of the attack.\n\nEmerson Lehmann — Lehmann is a reporter for CBS 58 Milwaukee and a graduate of Kewaskum High School. Seeing attacks of September 11th\, 2001 on TV is one of his earliest memories. He recalls learning a lot about 9/11 from former KHS teacher\, Jerry Gosa\, and he will speak to the importance of education.\n\nAlso participating in the program will be Fr. Jacob Strand\, the Kewaskum American Legion Honor Guard\, Kewaskum High School Band\, and singer Windy Hope.\n\n**NOTE TO RESIDENTS AND BUSINESSES** — Fond du Lac Ave. will be closed between Main St. and 2nd St. during the event.

Starting at approximately 5:30 p.m.\, Tarra and a group of riders will leave from the south trailhead of the Eisenbahn Trail and ride north to the Wisconsin 9/11 Memorial. \nThe Ride to Remember Celebration will take place at the Wisconsin 9/11 Memorial (1308 Fond du Lac Avenue\, Kewaskum\, WI 53040) and feature music courtesy of The Hometown Foundation and food available for purchase from Great Outdoors Supper Club.
