Wisconsin 9/11 Memorial Field Trip Grant

The Wisconsin 9/11 Memorial & Education Center recognizes schools have tight budgets and that busing can be expensive. That is why we’re proud to offer a transportation grant opportunity for Wisconsin-based, nonprofit organizations that primarily service children (schools, clubs, etc.). Eligible organizations that are awarded the grant will be reimbursed up to $500 towards transportation expenses. See details below.

Grant Application Details

Grants will only be awarded up to $500 per trip. Only persons who are principals, assistant principals, or organizational personnel with supervisory responsibility over students and/or matters of school/organizational finances may serve as a school’s application contact. Applications will be accepted between April 1 and are due by June 1 for the following school year. Applications after that date may be accepted depending on availability of funds. Applications will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. Please contact contact@wisconsin911memorial.com for more information.

Schools and organizations will be required to submit an invoice from the travel company for the total cost of the trip before the grant check will be issued. Vehicle rental and mileage will not be reimbursable expenditures for this grant. Please send the invoice to contact@wisconsin911memorial.com within 7 days after the field trip. Grants will be funded based on the invoice up to $500. Grant monies awarded at the Kewaskum Remembers 9/11, Inc.’s board of director’s sole discretion. Submission of application does not obligate the Kewaskum Remembers 9/11, Inc. to award grant money.

Thank you to our donors

The Wisconsin 9/11 Memorial & Education Center Field Trip Grant was made possible thanks to donations from many businesses, individuals, and nonprofit organizations throughout Wisconsin.

In December of 2023, Pete Rettler commemorated his 30 year running streak by hosting “30 Runs to Remember” to benefit this fund. In that month, he raised more than $30,000 to seed this field trip fund. We thank those sponsors who are dedicated to educating future generations about the tragic events of September 11th, 2001.
