Wisconsin 9/11 Memorial & Education Center Announces Annual September 11th Remembrance Event

KEWASKUM, Wis. (June 25, 2025) – The Wisconsin 9/11 Memorial & Education Center will host its annual September 11th Remembrance event on Thursday, September 11, 2025, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. The Memorial is located at 1308 Fond du Lac Avenue in Kewaskum, Wis.

This year’s program will feature two distinguished speakers with profound personal connections to the events of September 11, 2001:

Julie Henneberry, a member of the Wisconsin 9/11 Memorial board, will share her narrative publicly for the first time. Ms. Henneberry is the daughter of FDNY Lieutenant Peter Louis Freund, who tragically died in the North Tower collapse when she was 10 years old. A Wisconsin resident, she honors her father’s legacy through dedicated service and enduring commitment, including running marathons for the Tunnel to Towers Foundation and training for the Chicago Marathon in support of the Ignite the Spirit Fund.

Paul J. Conway, a retired assistant chief of the Milwaukee Fire Department and founder of Conway Shield, will also deliver remarks. With over 30 years of experience in the American fire service, Chief Conway offers deep insights and leadership expertise, discussing the enduring impact of 9/11, the grief journey, and leading with honor, courage, and commitment.

The annual event is free and open to the public. The Wisconsin 9/11 Memorial & Education Center encourages community members, students, and families to attend and pay tribute to the victims, survivors, and heroes of September 11, 2001. The Memorial is dedicated to honoring those lost and educating future generations about the events and aftermath of September 11th.
